MINOXIDIL IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO PETS!!!

WHAT IS MINOXIDIL?
Minoxidil is a topical vasodilator used for hair growth.

The problem is not the product itself for humans, but the fact that cats and some dogs metabolize it extremely poorly, meaning even small exposure can become toxic.

You don’t need a pet to “drink it” or “lick the bottle” for it to be dangerous. The issue is residue transfer.
START HERE:
This is a quick PSA, not a blogpost.
If you own a cat and use minox, you're putting your pet in REAL danger
Many people dismiss this because they think toxicity only matters if the cat directly drinks the product or licks the bottle. That’s not how exposure works in this case
For example, if you apply minox to your scalp and then rest your head on a pillow which your cat also lays on there's a very high risk of contamination.
Cats self-groom often, so they're probably gonna ingest it.
Your cat may start puking or running out of breath if they've been contaminated.

SIGNS YOUR PET MAY BE EXPOSED:
Symptoms can escalate quickly.
  1. Sudden weakness or lethargy
  2. Unstable movement or falling when walking
  3. Vomiting or drooling
  4. Hyperventilation or weird breathing\
  5. Inability to stand properly
If you see more than one of these, don't wait around and rush your ass to a vet
BASIC DAMAGE CONTROL IF YOU DO USE IT:
If you are going to use minoxidil while owning a cat:

  • wash hands immediately after application (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
  • avoid contact with your kitty until fully dry
  • keep cats off pillows and bedding you use after applying minox
  • store it in a safe place where your cat can't reach
GOOD ALTERNATIVES FOR PET OWNERS:
There isn't one "perfect" hair serum but you can use oils and shit like that
Castor OIL: low risk, medium reward, feel free to apply to eyebrows and eyelashes
Rosemary OIL: pretty good actually, just make sure to dilute it, if you don't dilute it its not really safe for skin or pets.
MICRONEEDLING: Get a derma stamp and stamp your eyebrows and/or scalp and apply your solution. Helps quite a lot

CONCLUSION/SOURCES
Minoxidil isn’t the issue by itself, the issue is indirect transfer exposure in homes with pets.
Most risks come from everyday habits, not obvious mistakes.
If you use it, treat it like a controlled substance around pets, not a casual cosmetic product!
That's pretty much it, check the sources below and stay safe :cutie
